Drug Project Joins Disney Program to Certify Volunteers for Project in Your Own Neighborhood

Navajo County Drug Project has joined HandsOn Network to certify volunteers who give a day of service to receive a day at Disney. The Drug Project also can certify volunteer activities of any groups in the community for the “Give a Day, Get a Day at Disney” program and list local volunteer opportunities on the national website.  disneyland

Visit www.handsonnetwork.org to register as a volunteer and learn about the program. If you have a project that requires volunteers, contact NavajoCountyDrugProject.com to have your one-time or ongoing event listed on the HandsOn Networkwebsite.  Volunteers may contact activity and event organizers directly or sign up to receive direct emails about upcoming volunteer opportunities, also at NavajoCountyDrugProject.com

Volunteering can be a family event or an answer to teens that say “there’s nothing to do around here.”  Giving back to the community is a win-win situation. Kids that spend quality time together with their parent or another caring adult are statistically 50 % less likely to experiment with  drugs and alcohol.

Set up your own community project and ask encourage other volunteers to join. A few ideas include:Concho Baseball Field Clean Up

  • Visit seniors and make crafts, play games or share stories or clean up their yard
  • Help sort, inspect and pack donated items at a local food bank or thrift shop
  • Gather new or gently used books, DVDs and games for children in homeless shelters
  • Raise awareness for a good cause and participate in a local charity walk
  • Get outdoors and clean up or restore a park, trail or lake
  • Gather goods and pack care boxes for soldiers serving overseas
  • Check with towns and schools about painting unsightly graffiti, derelict buildings or other areas
  • Volunteer to mentor or tutor students in your nearby school
  • Create your own project for any age group and promote it through the Network. You’ll never know what might happen!!!!
